I was just wondering what most people here abouts use to backup there -9 dvd's and then what do you use to burn it onto a dual layer disc. I use DVDShrink to author and backup, then I use Nero Burn 6 on my Plextor PX-704A to burn to a dual layer disc. It is nice that along with Anydvd and setting DVDShrink to no compression and let it output the files larger then the 4.5 gig, one can get an 8 gig movie without any compression. DVDShrink does give you an error message "The current dvd size is to big! If you continue, you may not be able to burn the resulting file" Which when there was only -5 burning would be true but now with -9 the resulting file can be burned. I have dvd decrypter and tsunami dvd author but to me still the simplest program by far is DVDShrink, and now that you can use this same program along with anydvd to decrypt and burn to -9 is still the best. Just my thoughts.![]()

If the DVD is less than 8.5Gb, why not just use DVDDecrypter ISO read > ISO write? This is assuming you don't want to cut anything out of the movie, just make a 1:1 copy.

To just make an exact copy of original dvd-9 just use dvd decrypter. Iso read (save to hdd), then Iso write(burn to dl media). 2 simple steps for dvd-9 to dvd+DL. When using DL media Use verbatim MKM, best quality DL media right now..

Using ISO read and ISO write in DVD Decrypter is easy and painless. This also insures there are no alterations to the DVD. Using ISO is the safest way to make sure that there are no encoding changes etc.

with shrink you risk screwing up the layer break, whereas with decrypter it should be preservedNo DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

IN the preferences for DVDShrink you can set it to Dual Layer Media size, in case SOME compression is needed or if you want to get rid of some parts of the DVD.
