Hello all,
I have been looking at the various methods of putting xvid television episodes onto DVD and ran across this program. From the reading I have done in this forum, I have a few questions that if answered, would be greatly appreciated.
Like I said, I want to put xvid encoded episodes on DVD. Each episode runs around 45 minutes. So ideally I would like to fit five such episodes on a DVD. When using S2D is there a sweetspot for the amount of time per DVD that one should use. I don't want to try and put too much video so that S2D has too small of a bitrate yet I don't want to use to little video so that S2D doesn't use all of the available bitrate. So once again, my question is there a certain amount of time that I should shoot for when using this program and the "make fit" option? Would four hours be too much? Would 2 hours be too little?
I hope that you guys understand this question and can answer. If not, thanks for looking!

Well as you have noted, duration is the key.
So (ignoring audio & muxing overhead) for a DVD-5:
1 Episode (45mins) - would not fill a DVD
2 Eps (1h 30m) - would fill a DVD5 @ with a Video bitrate of approx 7000kbs
3 Eps (2h 15m) - would fill a DVD5 @ with a Video bitrate of approx 4600kbs
4 Eps (3h) - would fill a DVD5 @ with a Video bitrate of approx 3500kbs
5 Eps (3h 45m) - would fill a DVD5 @ with a Video bitrate of approx 2800kbs
I would recommend keeping the bitrate over 3000kbs which would mean 4 eps - but you may be happy with the quality of 5 eps...
The same math is used for any encoder BTW.
Not sure that answers your question, if not let me know.SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
