  1. Is this worth it?

Ive been pretty much scared of buying media by reading this forum lol. I never really took much notice until the other day I converted a few XVID movies into DVDs and burned them, near the end of the movie my DVD player could no longer read the discs. I later found out that this is because junk discs flake out after 4GB. So now if I want discs that will last I need to but better discs. Which unfortunatly means more money.

So I saw these offered online and plan on checking them out at futureshop(price comparison) and bestbuy to see if they are made in Japan. If they are, are they worth the shellout?

Is 8x what i should be buying(i have a 16x 3540a burner) or should I kick out even more money for the 16x speed stuff.

    Thanks!

You consider $40 CAD (what is a "CAD") for 100 blanks high? I remember when DVD-R disks were over $7 US in quantities of 10.

If you're having problems with disk quality (which you are), spend the money to get the absolute best quality disks (if you value your data/movies).

  5. Im a student so 40$ is kind of high, so I will buy them if this is a good deal, though with maxells I hear that some are being made poorly now, so unless they are Japan printed I wont bother.

I personally would only buy Maxells now if they'er MIJ. By the way, FutureShop has them for $18.00 per 50, but only MIT(and some are CMC's!) in my part of Canada.

For a student, sometimes a $1 loaf of bread can be "high".

But under normal circumstances, a 100-pack of Maxell made in Japan media is a decent buy for $40 USD. For $40 CAD, it's a definite bargain.

I agree, $40 CAD for MIJ Maxells is a good deal. If your not opposed to online purchasing afterlife, you can get 100 TYG02's at blankmedia.ca for $54CAD http://www.blankmedia.ca/proddetail3.asp?id=303
They normally have TYG01's for $42CAD per 100, I see they are presently out of those, both are excellent media for decent money.

  9. FS Maxells are all MIT's infact I have yet to see MIJ of anything at anystore in Toronto.

Im going to go to BestBuy tommorow and see if they do have MIJ, tho I have a feeling it will be MIT.

I dont have a problem with mail order, tho as of now I am between houses so its not a good idea.

After about 5 minutes, I finally figured out that CAD is Canadian dollars. I've always seen it as CDN.

I thought it was some new kind of media or something.

I think CAD is the official abbreviation used on exchanges. CDN appears on magazines and goods sometimes, however.
