I've Sony VAIO and use DVGate to capture mini-DV tape to an AVI file. After capturing 7 AVI video clips, audio & video are intact. Using the correct settings in TMPGenc (Video-CD NTSC, Audio 44.1, 224 KBit, Video 352 X 240/29.97 HZ Quality HIGH), 5 of the 7 came out fine and complete. However, on 2 of them, the Audio suddenly cuts out after a minute and there's just Video. I re-checked the original AVI's and they're definitely intact. I also de-fragment frequently. What's going on?

Ronnie,
Did you ever find the answer to your question, because I've run into the same problem I think. I'm wondering what to do. -
It happens, I really don't know why. I'm sure someone does. Have you tried using toolame? If not try it. However I suppose the best way to do it (i think) would be to use vdub to conver the audio to a wav. Then use the wav as the input sound file.
look here.
