I have found out that it does playback +rdl media, but have been unable to find out if it plays +rw media or even +r. I assume if it plays the +rDL, that it should play +r. But +rw is another thing all together. So can anyone confirm that it plays the +r/+rw media?

I just got the JVC M100S a couple of weeks ago and haven't had the chance to really see what it can or can not do. But all our "home recorded" DVDs are on +r and +rw. While I have a couple of players that I use for playing DVDs on the M100S has played everyone I have put in it so far - about 6 - that includes +rw & +r.

    Hope this helps.

What brand +r/+rw (or Media ID) have you used in the M100S?

    DVD+R fine. YUDEN disc
    DVD+R DL fine. MKM disc
    DVD+RW fine. INFODISC disc

I believe the burner inside the JVC (an LG?) can do DVD+R and DVD+RW also, just that the recorder does not take advantage of it.

I would advise using a recorder just for recording. Using it as a player will prematurely age the lasers. This is how all recorders are.
