Hello...somewhat of a newbie here..hope you guys can help!
I am capturing satellite video with a Plextor PX-TV402U using Plextor GoCap capture software.
I am a little confused on the settings...
I am capturing directly to MPEG2. I have decided to capture I-Frames only as I have read that this will give the highest quality video.
I am not really concerned with file size...I only need about 60 min. of video to fit on a DVD, so my biggest concern is MAX quality.
I am capturing high motion video (sporting events) at a target bitrate of 9 Mbs with a peak of 9.8Mbps (I have an average capture rate of 9.5Mbs)
My question concerns GOP settings...
I have read that the lower the setting, the better output. I currently have it set at 5, but was wondering if someone could give some insight on this.
Should I set it lower or higher?
I am not really going to do any advanced editing, mostly just removing commercials. I do all of my editing in TMPGEnc 3.0 Express..
Any suggestions?

You need to find a forum that specializes in this proprietary box or just experiment. You are trying to push the box and DVD Mpeg2 to the limits on bit rate.
You will also be pushing the datarate limits of your DVD player. It may play on the PC.
My advice, start with default settings and then push datarate in small steps until it all breaks down, or not.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
