Alright, I made a mistake due to ignorance. Bought a Sony EV-C500E through eBay recently. This machine plays and edits Hi8 video cassettes... unfortunately for me it uses the PAL video format standard that is used in Australia. I was not aware of this standard and figured all I had to worry about was the voltage issue (no prob). Anyway my question to this esteemed forum is... can the EV-C500E be modified to use the NTSC format standard that we have here in North America? I suppose I should be asking Sony this and I probably will. My alternative is to put it back on eBay and probably lose a few dollars. The seller claimed to not know about the differences either.

PAL is PAL and not NTSC.
Sell it on eBay as you bought it.
It cannot be made to work to the NTSC spec.
