At the risk of starting an argument, where does everyone buy their media? In your opinion who has the best prices?

The real answer lies in completely understanding the question!

ioproducts.com! Perhaps its just because they are located in the Western U.S. (I think in California) I received my shipment of 50 Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R discs ($23.50) the day after I ordered them, having only paid $5.36 for shipping. The discs have been working flawlessly too. - Paul

i have ordered from newegg.com and supermediastore.com i have not had any problems from either one.

I buy from the following online stores (in this order):
1. Meritline.com
2. Supermediastore.com
3. Rima.com
4. Newegg.com
As for brick and mortar stores, I only buy from Fry's. -
Best Buy... when the Fuji (made in Japan!) is on sale.
I have not bought any in awhile.. since last year when 50 packs were on sale for $20 at Best Buy, and Circuit City had a paper coupon for buy one/get on free on ANY media. Went to Best Buy ... price matched the coupon...TY disks for ~.10 a piece 8)
I think I bought 700 blank DVD's that week

The generic DVD-R media I bought from Frys was crap! I spent a month burning 25 copies of a home video I produced onto DVD, and then sent them to family and friends for Christmas, only to find out that most of the people who received them couldn't play them all the way thru without reading errors! I had to throw 75 disc away! Never again will I buy bulk no-name special price discs at Frys! - Paul

I get my printables online from Shop4Tech.com. Sonic DVD-R 8X 4.7GB (No Stacking Ring) White Inkjet Printable by Shop4Tech for $0.27 a disc. Plus they burn great on my Mad Dog and my Pioneer drives and look great when printed with my Epson R200.
I get regular shiny tops (Fuji, Philips, Sony, etc.) offline only when on sale and I'm running low on printables from Best Buy, Circuit City, and Office Depot. Even when on sale they aren't as cheap as Shop4Tech. -
Whoever has it on sale. I never buy media because of name brand, country of origin, store or online vendor specific, or whatever other category.
Value is in the price I pay. -

Nowadays, if I need DVDRs, I typically only get them at Sam's Club. The reason being is that they have 1st Class Media (Verbatim MCC 16X WIJP DVD+Rs) at a cheap price all the time and they are a ~5 minute drive from where I live.
When I need to buy more CDRs, I'll probably go with NewEgg because they have the Verbatim DataLifePlus CDRs that use the SuperAZO dye formulation. Sam's Club has Verbatim 52X Silver InkJet Printable CDRs that are made by ProDisc -- I bought a spindle of these and they seem to work OK, but I wonder about their quality. With DVDRs being cheaper per MB than CDRs, I don't end up using nearly as many CDRs in 10/2005 as I do DVDRs.
In your opinion who has the best prices?
BestBuy has some great sales if you look at for them and go there before they are sold out. As an example, they had Verbatim DVD+R DLs for something like $2/disc a week or two ago (i.e., 10-pack was $19.99). That was an unreal deal if wanted/needed DVD+R DL media. -

Most of my media came from Meritline.com, I have purchased from Supermedia.com and from neighborhood merchants. Most of my purchases from meritline have been cheap, not worth the cash, pre made coaster media.

Rima.com
Supermediastore.com
Sam's Club
Best Buy
In That Order.. Usually buy 200 Blank DVD Discs at a clip, and 100 CDR's at a time..That way I always have enough and when I get Low I order em online, and usually never have to get em from the Brick-n-Mortor Stores. -
Rima. Bargain hunting isn't worth the wasted time and effort for me. It's more important that I know what manufacturer's discs I'm buying (and generally I need inkjet printables anyway).

svp.co.uk - one of the few places in the UK to provide media codes and do great p&p deals every couple of weeks.

Any thoughts on a good deal for maybe a 3 or 5 pack of DVD-RWs? They always seem to get overlooked in these discussions.
Thanks! -

I buy from Staples or Best Buy, when Sale is on.
I have two batches of Fuji 8X +R or -R MIJ by sorting out the MIT discs. I seem to recal they were Both Ty's. $8.94 for 30 discs. Bought some Sony MIJ 8X at best buy recently, don't recall the price for sure but I seem to recall $19.99 for 50, not as good as when staples does the 30 for 8.94 but not bad either. Online, Foooey, I prefer to walk out with them in my hot grubby little hands. I even went to NYC to pick up my JVC 9911 VCR, they'd have shipped it to meat the same price + S&H (B&H Photo). With Tolls and fuel vs S&H it was a wash.
I did order DVD cases online as that was the only place to get 4, 6, 8, & 10 disc cases.
Cheers -
You guys in the states have the best access to good and cheap media, in case you didn't realise it. To prove a point, the well touted TY's are not available where I live (Cyprus), but a friend visiting the states earlier in the year managed to get us 100 of the special offer TY's from Supermediastore each. Terrific price, terrific discs. I want more, but they don't offer post to abroad. Meritline offer international shipping, but they offer only by UPS express delivery, no cheaper and longer alternative. When enquiering how much to ship a 600 pack of TY 4x DVD-r's (only $180), the reply is $233, which of course is absurd. Its more than the cost of the item, and to a European Union country. So you guys in the US and canada consider yourselfs lucky. The TY offer of course is too good to pass over, and I'm still trying to figure out alternative way of getting them here.

In-store Best Buy or CompUSA and ONLY when they are on sale. They seem to have the best sales on TDK and Verbatim. Everything else they carry is crap nowadays. The office supply warehouse stores like Office Depot and Staples routinely double charge any innocent bystander for a pack of discs if they feel they can get away with it.
For example, a 10 pack of Verbatim Lightscribe DVD +R discs MSRP lists for $15.99. Best Buy sells them as low as $7.99 WHEN ON SALE. Office Depot sells them for $30.00 (DOUBLE THE MSRP) and they NEVER go on sale. They do this with other discs as well. All I can say is, be careful. Disgusting way to do business!
I never do online because if they don't work, I don't have the time to mess around with shipping them back. I want to be able to walk down to the corner and swap them or whatever if I have to. -

I have allways used Ritek, but my last 100 pack was Taiyo Yuden, just because everyone raves about them...and the price was rite. (Think I paid 30$ for 100). So far they work great, but then again, the Ritek's never gave me a problem either.
edit: forgot to mention...never had a problem with meritline, and their ground shipping comes the next day (they must have a warehouse here in las vegas). -
I always order from:

Reliable so far.
Good prices,good media and fast delivery.~Luke~ -
Rima - Taiyo Yuden
The only place I buy. Respectable company and product deserve loyalty.
Instore purchases are out of the question in my area. -
I pretty much stick to Future Shop nowadays because they have Maxell 100 packs at about $35 Cdn. most of the time. I can always wait for sales. I'm handy to the stores and they ship for free anyway. Maxell and Ritek +R are the only ones that work consistently in my burner (99% of the time) but Ritek +Rs are only available locally at about twice the price of the Maxells on sale.

I make my in store purchases at Costco.
The majority of my purchases I do online.
I shop at media-n-more.caAll's well that burns well.
