Does anyone know who makes Dysan DVD-R media? Dysan WAS a manufacturer of floppy disc media back in the late 70's into the mid to late 80's. They crashed and burned because they didn't keep pace with the market. They thought they could sell floppy media forever at ridiculously high prices just because they packed it in pretty purple boxes with gold letters on it. But of course they were wrong and they suffered the failure that they richly deserved. Since then, the name "Dysan" has been whored around because a name can be sold. The brand name "Dysan" has nothing to do with the former company named Dysan - that company is dead. It was just a name that was sold in the wake of the failure of the company and some schlepper is trying to take advantage of the name assuming there are enough dummies in the market to buy their junk because they are unaware of the facts. I'm sure that the media they sell is rancid cheese; I'm just curious if anyone knows which cheese factory they are buying it from.

Could be CMC. The one burned Dysan disc someone sent me had that media code on it.

I guess it could also be possible that it varies based on whatever sweet deal they find that week. Some of the "bottom of the food chain" brands are pot luck on what you get. GQ (Fry's) is a brand that is like that. If you buy it, it's a little like Christmas. You don't know what's in the box until you open it. But regardless of who made it, it's their floor sweepings - definitely not quality media.

I picked up some 4X -R Dysan for testers (use once then throw away, 200 for $24US), they have the horrible media code of AN32. They seem to use whatever is cheapest, although their DL's are MKM, but everything else appears to be a crap shoot.

AN32 is from Infodumb (I refuse to call them Infosmart) in Hong Hong. They are one of the most notorious for selling fake TY and other media.
