  1. Hey
What's the highest resolution for XSVCD and how do you burn it with nero?
    Thanks

  2. the guide here says 720x480.. and you just use the 'turn compliancy off' setting when nero complains about the resolution...

  3. XVCD = "non-standard/compliant VCD"

XVCD is not a format. You can use any settings you want (but it doesn't mean that it's going to work).

720x480 (NTSC) is the framesize used on a DVD and it is probably reasonable to expect a DVD player not to be able to play a file with a framesize above this.

So when you turn up the bit rate and you encode the file as an MPG1 do you then burn it as a SVCD on nero and "ignore" the compliancy window???

    Ok

So why encode in MPG1 and then burn in MPG2? Is it because you can alter the bit rate setting in MPG1 in TMPGnc and not in MPG2?

  7. T3x, what do you mean:
"So why encode in MPG1 and then burn in MPG2? Is it because you can alter the bit rate setting in MPG1 in TMPGnc and not in MPG2?"
Nobody is encoding mpg1 and burning as mpg2. An xvcd is a mpg1 file that does not conform to the standards a vcd should, and is burn as a vcd is, but is not accepted by every dvd player. A xSvcd is a mpg2 file that does not conform to the standards of SVCD. This is all explained under the section "What is..." at the very top left corner of your browser. Happy Holidays.

    You are very confused.

VCD, XVCD- MPEG-1 stream Burn as VCD
SVCD, XSVCD MPEG-2 stream Burn as SVCD

If you were to encode a vcd then burn as svcd or vice versa, the video would skip and\or the audio would be WAY outta sync
