While I'm sad to hear such news about such a formidable woman, I have to smile at the fact that she managed to live to the ripe old age of 92 and make it to 2005 to see all the changes that have taken place thanks to her belief in her principles.

When I think of her facing those injustices in 1955, then watching the turbulence of the 60's and 70's, the denial of the 80's and the culture clash of the 90's, it warms my heart that such change simply came forth because somebody somewhere at some point stood up and simply said: That's not fair.

    God bless you Rosa. R.I.P.

    Yep!!!
I saw this on the news earlier.... i was like, you gotta be kidding!!! i thought it was something that happened not long ago at first!! just when they started talking about someone not giving up their seat!! then i looked to watch it and saw what they were talking about...
Wow!! i could go off on that for a long time... can't believe people were like that so openly... i could have never lived back then, i would have been lynched for sure!!! and i'm of the caucasion persuasion 8)
I did not read the whole article yet but on the news they said something about the "bus driver" telling her she had to get up for the white guy, see, now i would have been in a serious fight with the driver and the guy that wanted the seat if i would have seen something like that!!!

Well at least she had a long life, and as you said "to see all the changes that have taken place thanks to her belief in her principles"

It's really amazing that she started something way back then and was around this long to see everything that has happened!!

Its a great story, and has really inspired alot of social change....but the truth is that lots of other people stood up to the segregration on buses before her but they were mostly younger males and just weren't taken as seriously.
