You can do it in several steps - I'll give you the overview

Demux Audio from MPEG1 - DGIndex v1.4 or higher will do this

Take resulting .MP2 or .MPA file and convert to MP3 - BeSweet/BeLight

You could also do it in realtime with a audio recorder that records "what u hear" over your soundcard. I have one that came with my soundblaster. Programs like replay music and other programs found on line can also do realtime recording. This would be a good alternative if its only a few minutes long.

If you want the whole vcd then a software solution would be preffered. Soopafresh gave a good example of one.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

First method should be much faster than real time. ffmpeg should be able to do it direct from the VCD or at least after you rip from DAT-->mpg.

  5. Our NConvert can convert vcd to mp3 directly.
Select the video files from vcd (avseq*.dat),
then change the profile to MP3.
