I was thinking of reading that. I still have 8 books left in the current series I'm reading though so I can't even think about starting until they're all finished.

Why are they making a movie of it? Wouldn't any Japanese actress turn the role down?

Why would they turn down the role if it's a good movie? I haven't seen the movie but like I said if it's anything close to the book, it should be good.

Really a shame that the star is a Chinese woman. I haven't read the book but am I wrong in assuming this takes place in Japan? If I am not, then why is the movie in English?

Yes, it takes place in Japan. I think most people can't tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese...which is unfortunate for those that can.
