    Hi

Anybody have trouble backing up the Shark Tale DVD. I got a used copy from EBay and I want to back it up because my son well uses his kids type DVD's.

It plays OK on my Apex 600 but I'm having trouble backing it up. I have tried it using DVD Decrypter, Smartripper and DVD Shrink. All these programs have trouble reading the first VOB of the Movie itself. I wouldn't mind but it is the movie itself I'm having trouble with.

Has anybody else have troubole with this movie or do I have a damaged disc.

What error message do you get - that will tell us a lot.

I suspect is is either scratched or dirty, but the error messages may confirm that.

I'm pretty sure it is a bad disc.

I downloaded and tried DVD Fab and it balked at the same VOB It is the first Vob of the Movie about 5 min into the Movie.

I can get the other VOB's to rip OK. Is there a way I can Get the movie minus the bad parts.

  4. i have backed up shark tale with no problem. i have nero/dvdshrink, so there for i used dvdshrink to encode, shrink, and burn. therefore, i would think maybe the disc is the problem.

It probably has a scratch. Try looking at the disc and see if you see any scratches or dust on it. I have a CD scratch repair kit that has sometimes fixed DVD scratches, but then again, I have seen DVDs that other people didn't take care of that were scratched so badly they couldn't be fixed. Since it plays OK in your Apex, you should be able to get around this. Try using a smooth cloth of some kind to get rid of any dust or grime you see and if that doesn't work and you see scratches, you'll have to get a scratch repair kit.
