Can anyone tell me if there is a possibility of one key manufacturer of DL DVDs which will work in a player that has not played a DL disc from another manufacturer? Is it worth trying a few different manufacturers of DL DVDs or bascially if a DVD player will not play one DL DVD chances are it won't play any? I have looked in the DVD features section of this site for my player and there wasn't much info in the way of DL infromation other than a line through it. Is there one manufacturer of DL DVDs that seems to create DL DVD that has the best chance of working in most DVD players? Or if the player will not play DL that is it and I have to accept it. No trial or error chances?

If there is a line through it more than likely your standalone will not play any DL media. There are quite a few people who own players that don't read DL burnt media. I've used verbatim, memorex, ritek, piodata, and samsung media. All seem to work fine in my Sony Standalone, but mine supports DL media. I have an older JVC that refuses to read DVD+/-R DL media.
