I hate speaker phones! The place I'm currently temping at everyone uses their damn speaker phone! I mean I don't like hearing BOTH sides of a conversation I have nothing to do with. One was so loud you could still hear it through a CLOSED DOOR!!!
Jeesh... I mean they could use those phone headsets if they want to be handsfree.....

-
Yep!!!!!!!! i hate speaker phones!!!!!!!!!
I never use them and i can always tell when someone im talking to is using them!!! and i always yell at them, turn that damn speaker phone off and pick up the handset!!!!!!!!!!! If i wanted 10 people to hear what i was saying i would be sitting in the room!!!!!!!
And i also hate when poeple are talking to you and eating!!! espc. when THEY call you!!!!! i'm like WTF ?!?!?! call me when you are done eating!!!!!!
If i'm eating i dont even pay attention to the phone if it's ringing... i wait till i'm done and then look to see who called... -
If i'm eating and the phone rings i usually try to swallow it really fast and answer the phone before it goes to the answering machine ,but I usually just end up choking and missing the call.

Gotta agree on the speaker phone thing. Doing tech support for a living speaker phones have the more HORRIBLE audio.
Caller:
*rattle rattle*
"Hang on while I put you on speaker phone."
*rattle click*
"Can you hear me ok"
Me:
"Hello?" -
I find that speakerphone is a godsend as I need to move between two adjacent rooms at work (my office and our server room) and I don't have a cordless phone. I can put someone on speaker and go into the next room to check on the status of firewalls, routers, servers etc etc while they're talking me through something or whatever.
If in doubt, Google it. -

The number of people I have to speak to that barely have a grasp of the english language means I'm entitled to get my own back every once in a while.
"What's that .... YOU can't understand ME when I put you on speakerphone ? .... welcome to MY world, pal ..."If in doubt, Google it. -
I have a Bluetooth headset that I use. It's much better, since it is discreet, higher quality for both parties and quiet for others but still allows me to move about and use both my hands.

Yes good going cobra
Why aren't headsets more popular????Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Expense? Maybe people are afraid that they'll look too much like they're talking to themselves.
Frankly, in a lab environment where I normally reside now, we tend to talk to ourselves a lot. Comes with the job. -
