gotta be Batman 8). Just two of us sitting in the cinema helped also as it was ours for those few hours and the experience was so much better

1 Star Wars: Episode III - best of the new trilogy, old are still better
2 War of the Worlds - didn't mind it but wouldn't see it again
3 Wedding Crashers - very funny stuff, seen it twice in theatres
4 Batman Begins - best movie of the year
5 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - haven't seen
6 Madagascar - haven't seen
7 Mr. and Mrs. Smith - nice popcorn action flick, good chemistry
8 Hitch - pretty good, nothing special though
9 The Longest Yard - mediocre I thought
10 Fantastic Four - better than I expected, mmm Jessica Alba -
Feel free to flame, but I think Serenity was one of the best SCI-FI movies this year... At least the acting wasn't all wooden like SW EP3 was. Don't get me wrong, i liked EP3, but I think serenity was better.

Serenity is all over the TV at the moment here. Was the series any good? as they said it was cancelled in an interview with the main guy and crazy girl on TV this morning

I had the opportunity to watch the tv series on DVD last year and instantly fell in love with the concept. Basically it is a sci-fi western, that chronicles the lives of a group of rebels/outlaws. The story started to pick up near the end of the series, and thats where it ends; however the movie tells the rest of the story.

sounds interesting and the trailers look good
so I'd have to watch the series before the movie you reckon so I wouldn't spoil it? It's not on here in the UK but if the movie is a hit then I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be long before it is -
To get the full understanding of the movie, i would recommend watching the tv series first. But, the great thing about the movie is the director did an excellent job at making the movie to be independent of the series. This makes so the average joe could watch the movie, without watching the series, and get the gist of what is going on.

oh dear!
I'm not the average joe, I'm the below average george
I may just do some rooting about as I'm sure it will be mentioned somewhere if the series is going to be headed for the UK -

it's been out in the UK in 2003, looks like I missed it. I bet it was on Sky TV and I don't have that as there's far too much to watch in a day so I haven't had it in 4 years or so. I wonder if I can hire the DVD locally as I don't really want to buy it
