I've used various guides on this site and have successfully compressed movies that are 100+ movies onto 70 minute disks by lowering the bitrate and using tmpgenc. Now, my problem is that when I play them in my DVD player they stop after 70 minutes. I know the data is there because when I extract the .mpg with isobuster I have the full movie (on my computer). So, I guess my question is, does this sound like an issue with my DVD player just not being compatible or does the problem lie elsewhere?

so you are making a xvcd( a non-compliant vcd with lower bitrate)? they may not work perfect on all dvd players.
or are you making svcd? or just mpg on a cd? -
I made a VCD through Nero (i suppose you could call it a XVCD) but i'm just puzzled as to why it works, until it hits the 70 minute mark and then the movie shuts off.
