    I noticed while looking for a new unlocked firmware for my DVR-108 that Gradius has a firmware available that will convert a DVR-108BK into a DVR-108DX (PIODATA). I was wondering why would someone want to do this? What extra features/functionality do you gain by doing this?

    For anyone who cares, all you get is bit setting which is useless for me since I NEVER have problems playing on any settop so far.

    I have a 108 and have installed the Gradius firmware, haven't had a problem of any description. I often get gifts in the form of blank media and by people who know nothing about _R or +R. It makes no difference what I am given as the +R discs format to DVD ROM automaticly.

    For me auto bit setting is a bonus and the firmware is FREE.
