I have extracted a mp4 video file from a mkv container and also the ac3 audio track. I have converted the ac3 to wav and im wondering how do I add the wav together with my mp4 video?

I know that ac3 is not compatible with the mp4 format so my question is how to I convert wav to aac or any other format that can be combined with mp4 video and then join it?

Numerous difference aac encoders. Nero, iTunes, faac, etc. BeSweet supports most of them, it can also take the AC3 as input.

You can use mp4box to mux the audio.

faac is just a bunch of c++ files.
I thought nero was for burning data discs and itunes was a music d/l service?

I need to convert ac3 to aac so I can add it to a mp4.

You can use besweet to make a wav from the ac3 and then use the wav to convert to aac.

(as celtic_druid mentioned - this is just to clarify it - use the wav with a wav to aac converter)
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

BeSweet can convert from AC3 or wav directly to aac.

Most apps are just a bunch of C/C++ files. You either need to compile it or download a compiled version.

Nero is capable of far more than just burning data these days and iTunes includes Apples aac codec.

If you want to use Nero for encoding then yes you need aacenc32.dll and aac.dll which can be found in program files\common files\ahead\audio plugins.

aacenc.dll though? Maybe the new Winamp aac encoder? Nero also supports faac and the 3gp reference encoder.

Ok ive now got the aacenc.dll's in the same folder and I am able to convert to aac.

The problem now is MP4box does not work when I use a aac .mp4 audio source with a raw .256 video track.
