How do you wash your car?
I don't use a carwash anymore due to 2 bad experiences with laquer scuff marks. The first was my Ford Escort convertible when the wheel scrubber decided to stay out on one side. I guess it was the salt from the road that didn't help as it was also winter. I only noticed this when I got home and when I went back to the garage they told me they couldn't help as I'd left the premises. Add this to the fact the garage was closing down that weekend then I had no chance of getting anything done about it. I wasn't so bothered about this car as I was getting a full respray anyway
the other was my brand new metallic black Ford Puma (I didn't use the wheel scrubbers) which basically looked as if someone had rubbed a green scouring pad all over it! Again I only noticed later on once the car had dried as you can't see laquer scuffs while a car is wet. The garage again stated I'd left the premises but who waits until their car is dry before leaving the premises?
never again!![]()

Normally I'd go with the rain, but since we've moved house, I go through the gas station car wash when I fill up. I take care of my truck's engine, but the interior and exterior are another story.

carwash. I try to do it two or three times a month depending on the weather - that is how long it will stay clean before the next storm

I prefer manually jetwash with a spounge. Easier to reach those tough to get places compared with a carwash.

ah, a Eunos as most of the Japanese imports here in the UK are called AKA Mazda MX-5. It's over 7 years since I had my Escort and I often wonder if it's still on the road. Escort in the UK is different to the USA version isn't it?, just like most models
I've just found my old pics
. You can see the scuff marks inbetween the wheels in the 1st one. The pearl (black to pink
) paintjob wasn't cheap but it was '96 when pearl wasn't as common. It's pretty shocking looking back at it now but it was fun at the time having a 'barbie' car
. It certainly did attract attention from the females and I had some good times with it

in sun, no wheels

in rain with wheels, black roof

no sun with white roof, no wheels

I chose option 5 (pay someone else to do it). Where I live, there always seem to be charities and kids that stand on corners, waving people down to come to their "donation" car wash. I usually pay $5, sometimes $10. Point is, maybe 5 or 6 kids are working on different areas of the car simultaneously and so I'm in and out in under 5 minutes usually. And, it's nice to help out kids trying to earn money for a school activity ... or a charity trying to earn money for a worthwhile purpose.
