  1. I've replaced a broken Pioneer 109 with the A09XL and noticed the firmware identifies it as a 109. I know they're all part of the same family but would have thought they would have changed the firware ID. Has anybody else noticed this? Or...

    Thanks in advance.

I think they are identical drives. the A09 usually comes as a retail drive while the 109 is OEM.

The A09 has a different firmware (no rip speed limitation) and has a honeycomb interior.

    But otherwise, no, same drive

    Windows calls them all 109.

109 and A09 are identical drives.
109XL and A09XL are identical drives.

109 is OEM, A09 is retail.

OEM - Bare drive only - not boxed.
Retail - Drive + software, cable, screws etc... comes boxed.
