What codec does it use? Xvid, MPEG, MOV? Do you know the Make, Model of the recorder/camera? Need more info.

Hi kclives,
You might want to check the resolution (640 x 480) and framerate (30fps) - these appear to be NTSC figures, whereas the UK is PAL.
Nowadays, most standalone players and TVs support NTSC but I'd look into this first if it were me.There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
Carpe diem.

Are you refering to something other than the digital cameras now on the market that have upgraded their video from 320x240 to 640x480?
As a test, I plugged into my slightly older Kodak 3.1Mp a 1GB SD Sandisk.
I recorded approximately 20 minutes of video (320x240) AND FOUND THAT IT TOOK AROUND 1/4 TO 1/3 OF THE CARD'S MEMORY SPACE.
So, I would think that doubling the resolution would at least double the consumption.
The format of video ala digital cameras actually vary somewhat. I don't have those particulars myself.Whatever doesn't kill me, merely ticks me off. (Never again a Sony consumer.) -
Ok i gonna buy either the Nisis DV6 or H10DV6 or DVM1 or GeniusGshot
All of these record to an SD card at a max of 640*480*30fps
Now i want to know plz:
>What is the qual of this (could sum1 post a clip with the same res)
>How many mins i would get on a 1GB sd at this res.
Now from what i've read theses cams record in AVI or ASF but i dont know what codec?!!??!??!???

From a ad for the Nisis camera:
"Over 60 minutes of Digital Video on a standard 256 MB SD Card" (Their site says 512 MB maximum size card, though) And they don't make it completely clear if the 60 minutes is at 640 X 480 resolution or the lower 320 X 240.) If it were able to use a 1GB card, that would be 4 hours.
"Digital Video MPEG-4 / XVID Camcorder" Apparently it can save with the Xvid codec. That's good.
The Nisis website. http://www.nisis.com/Products/DigitalCameras/DV6.asp
I would do a net search for some reviews of those cameras. The manufactures information may not exactly answer the questions you are asking. They tend to pass over any weak points of their products.
