I have been reading for days but I just can't seem to figure out what to do. I have a Magnavox stand alone dvd player/recorder that I used to transfer some home movies to DVD from my camcorder. I am now trying to copy that DVD with no luck. Every time I try and copy I only get a part of the data and it doesn't work.

I have tried Nero 6 Ultra Edition 6.6.016.
I have tried 1 Click DVD Copy 4.1

From what I read I need to shrink it first?? I tried DVD Shrink 3.2 and I get this error. "DVD Dhrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Invalid DVD navigation structure.

    Can anyone help this newbie?

  2. Did you record in VR format?
Record in +R format or use NeroVision Express to convert.

I am sorry I do not know what VR format is. When I recorded it on the MAgnovox DVD player / recorder it does not give me a choice.

  4. What Magnavox model do you have?
What size and disc format(-R,+R) did you use?

magnovox model MRV660, DVD+R 4.7 gig. My Nero doesn't have a feature called NeroVision Express. I think that was part of 5.5?

  6. Try opening the disc in Nero:

If that doesn't work use ISOBuster to extract.

  8. My guess would Nero 6 Ultra is what was displayed, but each drive vendor can have different features in the version they give away with the drive, depends on what they pay.

When I used my Cyberhome to record to +RW DVDs the only way to get them into the computer was DVD Decrypter and then I could open in TMPGEnc DVD Author or Shrink. Another way that worked was Use the latest VideoReDo to open the VOB files direct from the DVD and save as MPG to the hard drive. And use its join function to make one big Mpeg and it's edit to edit the files. BTW it has a trial version that only saves 30 minutes unless you request the trial key, then it is totally functional and they have great support too.

    Good Luck

    He's right
the recordings on some set-top dvd recorders looks like a regular dvd,
but you need to extract the files off the recording with
    DVD DECRYPTER
then you can copy that no problems
Had the same issues with an ASPIRE DVD+R RECORDER,
typically you can only see the first .99GIG
(first vob only or first ~20 mins)
    without extracting

Thanks guys, I will try again tonight. I finally got a complete copy last night with Nero using DVD (UDF) mode but it won't work in DVD players.
