I use TMPGEnc to cut and merge my .mpg files but since it's doesn't accept .avi files, what other software do i need to do that?

virtualdub. remember that the avi files must have exact same video and audio properties.

oh not virtualdub again. I have tried virtualdub before, as i recall, the cutting files turned out to be alot bigger than it's original size.

You've been here long enough to know where the Tools, Guides and Search sections are
You need to either select Direct Stream Copy (if all files use the same codec) or choose a codec for recompression, otherwise by default virtualdub outputs in uncompressed AVI, which is massive.If in doubt, Google it. -
VirtualDub is ideal for what you want. As Jimmalenko says-Just remember to select 'Direct Stream Copy' and NOT 'Full Processing Mode'!!!! The files will not be massive then.
