this burner has been working fine with all types of media from
Tayo Yuden = TYG02, Verbatim Movie Real = MCC 01RG20... they have been burned and played flawless... I recently made the switch to Verbatim = MCC 03RG20 these are the white top printables... All 3 of these medias burn perfect in my Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-8125... But for some reason I keep getting an error when I try to burn the new verbatim discs with my sony burner... Is there a firmware upgrade I can download to fix this problem??? All help is grealty appreciated... Thanks in advance...

From what I hear Sony burners are a little short with firmware upgrades. I have a DW-U18A Sony burner. I just lucked out and found a media that works, Prodisc 4X and I stuck with it.

I doubt you could use other firmware, but it would depend who actually made the burner. It may not be Sony.

BTW, 26 views aren't many on this site.

  5. You should use either BYX4 (Sony DRU-710A) or CSTR (LiteOn SOHW-1653S). BYX4 is the easiest as you can load it straight without patching it. If you use CSTR, you will have to patch the firmware first.

I upgraded the firmware and it now allows me to burn at 8x instead up 4x and it also allows me to use the Verbatim = MCC 03RG20... I really appreciate your help!!!
