Hi, i have like 10 AVI movies i would like to merge into one movie and then burn it to DVD. I have an idea as to approach the problem, but since it will take a LOT of time I wanted to ask you guys if it sounds ok or even if you could give me a simpler solution.
I was thinking of merging the AVI with VirtualDub and then use gui4ffmpeg to burn the compilation. But merging takes so dang long time with VirtualDub so if you guys think this is a good solution Ill stick to it

Btw, the movies are of aprox. 130Mb each.

I would encode them separately and use the authoring program to do the 'merging'. This helps a lot with sync issues.

  3. Yeah, thats the right technique b/c it's possible that not all of your avi files have same properties and virtualdub is also re-encoding your files.
If you are sure that all of the files are encoded with the same codec and have identical properties than you can use AVi Joiner to join them.
You can find it here :

It's not free but trial version is available.

Thx for the help guys, that Avijoiner sounds like a winner, but i noticed that all of the files doesn't have the same size/frameRate/frameSize. There are three diffrent types of properties for three 'groups' of files. But. Would it be possible to join the avis that have the same size/FR and FS and then recode (or something) the merged parts i.e the now; three larger AVI and burn them to a dvd? or do I have to burn the three diffrent merged AVI to separate DVD?

The best would ofcourse be to recode the minority files into the settings of the majority. If this is possible, could anyone please direct me to a thread (or help me out here )?

Use http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm to re-encode each AVI file seperately to DVD specs (TMPGEnc has a batch mode you can use), then use your authoring software to join them together.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Now that is what i call a tutorial! Great work. However, I quote from the tutorial mentioned:
"It is wise to output to the same format as your source if possible (PAL is 25fps, NTSC is either 23.976fps or 29.976fps)."
What should I do if there are one 25fps and another file is 23.976 (as in my case :'( )?

You'll have to convert them all to one standard (PAL or NTSC), or alternatively encode them to whatever standard the source is, and then use DVDPatcher to trick your authoring software into thinking all files are the same standard. There's a guide on how to use DVDPatcher in the guides section.
    If in doubt, Google it.
