Ok, this may sound dumb, but I just realized I don't know how to back up the CD-ROM's my various programs come on. I have Nero, PowerDVD, Roxio, I don't know what all else off the top of my head.

Anyway, what do I use to backup the programs I use to backup my DVDs? I imagine there are programs available to do this, could someone recommend some freeware or trialware for me to start my research on? I can't find much in the frame to the left about this, not surprising really, as we don't talk CD backup's here so much.

I want to actually burn backup copies of the CD-ROMs, not just mount them with Daemon Tools. I seem to remember having used ISOBuster (maybe??) to rip a program disc last year and mount it with Daemon Tools (it's the most important program on my laptop, I want a backup of the CD there just in case something happens and I have to reinstall while on the road) - but then how do I burn a copy of it? With Nero? Any advice on where to start reading would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

if i'm understanding properly, you want to create an iso image and burn it as a date file right? well...basically i'll quickly guide u through in nero.

    - make sure you are using the manual mode and not wizard.
    - when u start up nero, there should be like a window that comes up, and you can select several options like disc copy, so on on the left hand side. anywayz just press cancel.
    - Select Recorder-Choose Recorder-Image recorder
    - Go to file-new
    - Select CD-Copy and make sure you have selected the right drive in which your cd is inserted to. click copy and it should start reading, once it's done, it'll ask you for a location to save the file, save it anywhere, to make it easier for just now, save it to desktop.
    - After that, go back to that Recorder-Choose Recorder and select your burner this time.
    - Go to file-new and click cd-rom(iso) and then new
    - Now locate the file where u saved it and drag it to the compilation window.
    - Now just burn it by going to recorder-burn compilation

hope this is your what you are looking for. Tip: next time you ask, try to simplify the question as much. I believe your probably could have just explained yourself in a couple of sentence, rather than a whole paragraph

Hmm, ok, I'll try to be briefer. <ahem>

I want to make backup CD-R copies of my CD-ROM discs. I want them to be playable in the drive, not just a virtual image mounted on my hard drive. What freeware or trialware programs should I look at to learn/do this?

Thanks for the help - I do tend to do the "why say it in 10 words if 1000 will do?" thing a lot.
    My gear:

    - JVC HR-S9911U SVHS VCR
    - Datavideo TBC-1000
    - JVC DR-M10 DVD writer
    - Sony Steadyshot DCR-TRV340 NTSC Digital8 Camcorder
