I have a JVC camcorder. I'm using WinDV to transfer the video to my hard drive as a Type 1 DV file (I don't get any audio when transferring as a type 2 file. When I bring the type 1 file into Premiere to edit, Premiere drags and eventually hangs on me, but type 2 file work fine. I tried using the Canopus conversion utility but it's not converting the file. I converted the file to type 2 using DVDate, but I'm not getting any audio. The length of my video is 80 minutes. Is there a setting I need to change in DVDate to be sure I get the audio or a way to get the file from my camcorder as a Type 2 file with audio?
thanks!

Not sure if you are having the same problem I did a year or so ago:

(if that link doesn't work, just search on my user name)
Turns out there is a bug in WinDV when capturing Type-II AVI. What you need to do is press "play" on the camcorder FIRST, then "Capture" in WinDV.
So far, this method has been working flawlessly, on two different computers now.
Hope that helps,
Jim
