yesterday i downloaded a linux distro ( legal stuff) in form of an iso-file.
This iso-file had a size of 8 gb. This made it impossible to burn with nero, even with overburn enabled.
Someone told me that the file possibly then was made for dual layer dvds.

Unfortunately i dont have a duallayer dvd-burner and this then is a problem for me.

Therefore i wonder, is it possible in some way, to "convert" a dual layer dvd into 2 dvd-r ? And that if afterwards is possible to boot from also?

Hopefully some of you can answer me on this.

    Best regards

Not on a data dvd no. None that I've ever heard of. You'll have to find a single layer version of the download.

Damn, are u sure? There is no such thing as a dual-layer data-dvd?
Hmm...The man who made the *.iso must have fucked things up.

Didnt manage to load the autoplay-function with Daemon tools either.
Any tip for me to make this work?

    Thanx for the reply.

    But, no.
I tried isobuster. But there was no "Dvd1" and "dvd2" there.
Only a bunch of different files im afraid.

    Any other tip?

    Well, good for u

But, a new dvd burner isnt on my budget right now.
I know there are progz out there for splitting dual-layer movies into two dvd-r.
I therefore hoped there could be a smililar program for splitting dual layer program-dvdr also.

    Best regards:

Well good luck to you then. like was said look around and if you ever find one to split a dual layer program into two single layer please share.... what distro is it as I've never seen one you couldn't get more than one way.....

the other option check out one or the sites that will burn iso's for you.... it's usually only a couple of bucks.......
