I'm planning to build a new computer in the next week or so... I was planning on building a system w/ an Athlon 1600 XP, but I just noticed the MP today.... Price wise the MP is a fair bit pricier. Personally I 'm thinking it’s not worth its current price. I do alot of converting and conversion time is a big factor on why I plan to buy a new computer (I’m pushing a 433 cerleron right now).At this point i'm not really willing to wait for the price to go down, just because i HAVE been waiting a long time already. My main concerns are would it be a mistake to buy a XP now, if I can get a first crack at the MP. Is the MP worth it's expensive price? And how big of a difference in performance it will be between the two? Any imput/recomendations for a new system are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
James

Essentially there the same cpu,but the mp is certified for multiprocessor boards.Although the xp will work in TYAN boards, most of the new dual amd boards will not support the xp.So if yer not planning on building a dual cpu rig, there would be no benefit from the mp.
