    Hi everybody!

My Standalone DVD Player (Philips 632/00) recognizes ISO Multisession DVDs only if they are on DVD+RW. This means for DVD+Rs that it will only find the first session , while Multisession DVD+RWs are no problem, all sessions are there.

So i´m wondering if there is a way to burn a DVD+R as if it were a DVD+RW, so the player will recognise it as a rewritable disk and find all sessions.

The Multisession-Window (where you add another session) in Nero looks different for the two disk types, so i guess it must be some kind of different multisession-format...?

Does anyone have an idea what to do to get around this annoying limitation? Email-Support from Philips told me simply: "Your Player is not capable of playing Multisession disks." Pffff... I guess i should not hope for a firmwareupdate to fix this...

    Thx a lot in advance!

You could try changing the booktype to DVD+RW.

Thanks a lot for that tip, Marty!
Well. I tried hard, but i just can´t find a tool that allows setting the book type of a DVD+R to RW.

I have a Philips DVDR1640P in my Desktop and a "HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4040N" (that´s supposed to be LG) in my Notebook.
Dvdbitsetter 2113 could not deal with the two of them as they seem not to be "Ricoh-type" burners.
Nero CD-DVD-Speed allows only changing a +R to -Rom. Also DVDInfopro told me that it´s impossible to set DVD+R to RW.
At least i found that the Philips is set to DVD-Rom Book Type by default, but that does not change a thing.
(Philips Website FAQ said, my Standalone Player would take multisession disks only if they are finalized, but still ... does not work out.)

Is there really no way or am i missing something?

    It´s not about DVD-Video, i´m talking about a bunch of videofiles on a Data-DVD.

And no, i won´t stop doing it. :P

You must be from Philips customer service, they have pretty much the same attitude...
