  1. ahhhh... the power of the XBOX, it can do so much, and offer endless possibilities. Then I see a HTPC (Home Theatre PC) which can also offer the same possibilities, but a tad more complex. Whats in it for the HTPC really? the ability to customize your PC to its needs? to upgrade when needed? or to get the best out of it?

Im my opinion the XBOX is a much safer bet. Its much more cheaper, easier and all-in-one. I really dont understand why people would waste the money and time to build an HTPC? The difference between a really good PC and a HTPC is its software interface to interac more as a hardware player. might as well just use my laptop (5x smaller) and take 1 extra minute to load the flick. Cant really say much the same about the XBOX since the PC cant play xbox games

I want to hear some feedbacks, maybe your input or thoughts. I dont want no bad remarks. Simply why you think which of the two is better and why.

I already told you why for me, now its your turn

    I think XBOX is better.
Maybe we do not talk about the same HTPC, but.. isn't HTPC the thing where you need to buy a processor and memory?

To be honest, I tried XBOX with XVIDs and it works veeeeeeeery well. Especially with my Anime: It does not cut the hard-coded subtitle.

But then, I'm sure the HTPC looks better than a big rectangular black box with a fluorescent X on it.

From what I've read, most xbox users, use it a medium for movie playback. If that is your primary concern, then the xbox is the way to go.

However, you can do more with an HTPC than just play movies. Most HTPC users also use it as a DVR and with the right software, you can upconvert your video signal to whatever high resolution your TV can handle to improve the image quality.
