    When using one of the 2 proggs for adding subtitles to the movie: are they permanent or can I switched them on/off while playing the movie?

    I can't speak for SVCD2DVD, but DVDAuthorGUI uses switchable subs, meaning they can be turned off and on.

    If they are hardsubs (coded in), No. If they are a seperate stream or softsubs included in video, Yes. "Remote control funtions"?? Everything has its functions and structures.
