Well I'm pretty new to all this stuff but he did indicate that HDMI & 12 bit DAC is being thought about for next year's crop of Pioneer DVD recorders. That's why I thought that there are way more knowledgable people who could ask better questions than I can.

I'm surprised that a major manufacturer would take such a risk of participating in a public forum, but Pioneer has obviously decided to find out what knowledgable users are thinking about their products.
