  1. I have manually chapter marked several titles on the HDD of DVR-533 and 633. However, when I want to combine several titles together and the sum of all the title space is larger than the DVD-R, the DVD-recorder will re-encode the data and record it in real time.

The problem is now that ALL of my custom chapter stops disappeard and replaced by the auto-10min/chapter chapters. I tried doing it with the "continuous" option, all I got is no chapter stop whatsoever.

Is there a way for me to retain my custom chapters when the recorder is doing re-encoding? If this is not possible, I guess back to DVD-Shrink I go

Nope. It can only retain the chapter marks with high-speed copying. When recording to a video-mode DVD in real time you always get the incremental chapter marks chosen in the setup menu.

You could choose to create separate titles in the playlist window wherever a chapter mark is present. It should play the same with the only difference being that each chapter shows up as a Title in the menu.

  3. I tried that but in most of my players (I have 6 different models and brands of standalone players, ranging from $100 to $800 price range) when it changes between titles, there is a slight gap so if I want to do concert video, then the gap will become annoying.
