  1. ive only made backups of dvds and never my own. now i have a bunch of tv shows and movies on vhs that id like to make custom dvds with. i need to know whats the best way to capture them, i have ATI all in wonder card and it came with pinnacle studio 8. is that decent or is there better programs for me? also i just need some basic steps as to what im suppose do. i was thinking i could capture them in avi form and then put those on dvd? i want to basically be able to take these videos and capture them in the ebst quality possible, and have a decent custom dvd, with a background pic, and chapters and maybe a bonus menu. id really appreciate if someone can point me to these steps or just tell me what i have to do. this stuff is kind of overwhelming searching through endless guides on here when im not even really sure what im suppose to be looking for

    thanks

    You should read all these:

That should answer all your current questions, as well as a few more I bet you'd ask next.

Note that these are not "endless guides" but rather address all the info required to do what you ask. And because they're all on one site, you should not get any mixed signals or dupe info thrown at you. Read these in order too, top one first, bottom one last.
