Been playing it a little today. I like the squad idea a lot, that's going to enforce team play quite a lot. The medics are now apparently necromancers as they can raise the dead. I was sniping on top of one of the buildings and shot some other bot in the face and took him down, then out runs one of his buddies and he's suddenly up again and strafing to take cover! That was spooky until I played a medic and saw the defibrilator paddles (which also double as a weapon).
I never did figure out how to order in an artillery strike as a commander. I thought as a commander you wouldn't even be on the battelfield but playing from an overhead map or something.
BTW for those downloading the demo I'd hit the 3D Gamers torrent for it. It only took me a couple hours to download it that way while other folks were getting horrible download speeds through the usual sites.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -

I used the following link(s):
ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/demos/battlefield2demo.exe
ftp://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/demos/battlefield2standalonedemoserver.exe
(so far haven't downloaded the server) And was getting 380KB/sec... -
Well I can't get it to work....WTF.
Updated my drivers, have the juice, just won't work. Does the intro then goes to a create accont screen and I can't go any further. I've been having some issues running 1942 laqteley, I get a BSOD occasionally. Think it's time to do the dirty deed and reinstall.

You do have to install the beta video drivers in order for it to work properly. I had the latest official ones and skipped the upgrade option and couldn't get farther than the login screen. Went back into the program folder and updated to the beta drivers that came with the demo and it worked fine.

I can't even gat that far, but then I only have a NVIDIA GeForce Ti 4800SE (128Mb).
You'd think that was enough...........Regards,

According to the EA website:
http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/downloads.jsp
Minimum vid card requirements are a GeForceFX 5700 or better or an ATi Radeon 8500 or higher. It also says it required XP and a half gig of memory. CPU requirements are suprisingly low in spite of the rest of the listFB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
