I know that this is a 2002 model, but I recently came across a brand new, still unopened Pioneer Elite DVR-7000 DVD recorder for only $450. I would like to know if this is a good price and is it worth it? Does anyone own one of it? How do you like it? Is this a reliable unit? Thanks for your help.

Not worth it. It will not outperform the newer Pioneer standard line units that cost far less. Plus, the older units like the DVR-7000 have older burners in them, meaning that they are not as compatible with the wide variety of DVD media available now. Look at the brand new Pioneer DVR-633H. It has a built-in 160GB hard drive, can burn to dual layer DVD-R media, has a super high quality XP+ (15Mbps) hard drive recording mode for two-pass encoding to DVD... the list goes on and on. It will probably cost you less to get the 633 than the new old stock 7000 you are looking at, and the 633 is a far superior machine.
