hi, i dont know if im in the right place or not but.. is there a way you can shrink or reduce the size of a video file such as avi, wmv, or mpeg??

Being a little more specific on what format you have and what you want will help. Or what you trying to accomplish. There's too many variables to answer that question without knowing a little more. -
Simple answer, you lower the bitrate when encoding and that will make a file smaller. (And the quality lower. Can't have one without the other
)

wells im heer to learn soo how would u reduce both size and resolution..?? and how do you lower the bitrate when encoding ??? how do i encode it??? what software do i use to encode avi, mpeg wmv????????

I'll post the answer for that once I get done writng the book it would require, in the meantime you can look to the left. There's plenty of guides and tutorials that answer all those questions, if you have anything specific that you need answering I'm sure someone will be able to help you.
