  1. Has anyone seen this player? What kind of chip set does it use?

  2. It probably uses a Mediatek chip which is powerful enough to handle Divx files with QPEL. However, RJ Tech products are now famous for breaking for no apparent reason at all. For example, I just sent my 800 model for the 3rd replacement already (twice DOA and the last one just went suddenly off and peacefully died), and I have had it for only 3 months.

The other RJ player I have is their portable unit purchased at the same time as the 800. Twice it was shipped to me faulty, and I had to keep on replacing it until I eventually got a working one. Not sure now how long it will last.

For about US$130.00 you can get a Pioneer 588a-S, which also uses a Mediatek chip and can handle all the files a RJ one does. No card reader though, but for many people it is not that important.

  4. junkmalle, I've had my eye on that one for awhile. Couldn't get a straight answer from RJTech about when it was coming out exactly or who would be selling it in North America.

So can you plug an external USB hard drive into this thing and play Divx files from it????

    That would be sweet!

  6. tmaxwell2435, I hope so. However, the USB input will be 1.1 and not 2.0.

Update: The RJ-1800DVX is availabe at Newegg.

  9. From all the comments I've seen posted in here on that brand, seems like a good one to avoid.

  10. Firmware updates have been removed from the RJ-Tech website.

  11. Tomorrow will be a month since I had an open RMA with RJ. My palyer hasn't arrived yet. They said they were not sure why it died and wanted to replace the board. The problem is that as of 2 days ago they didn't have a goddamn part to replace!
    Now I am really pissed!
