I've been playing with this new trial version and it sure looks good and promising.
It creates selectable subtitles out of .srt files, which looks nice. A type and a size of the subtitle font can be changed, but not a color. Fonts are white and have nice thick black outline.
I'm not sure, but it seems that more subtitle and audio channels could be added in registered version.
Encoding is slow in trial version and a watermark is added to output DVD.
It seems that 5.1 AC3 is supported.
Now it has some basic options to change bitrates and timing of automatic chapters.
    Preview window may be resized.
It has integrated burning engine with double layer support.
It is announced that an option for DVD menu will be added in next versions.
It looks as a perfect solution for newbies and for people that do not want to bother with complicated or professional DVD authoring software. It is just one click to add video, second click to convert and third to burn finished DVD.
With added option for DVD menu, this could be a winner for simple home video projects and basic conversions from avi to DVD...with selectable subtitles.

    Hi Jeremiah 58,

I know that when VSO first made this Release Candidate Version availabe there was a watermark that was visible on the trial version. This watermark slows the application down considerably (as much as twice as much!).

VSO is going to change or has already changed this so that the watermark will not be on the trial version for the first week, and then it will appear after the first week. This way users can see the real speed this application is capable of.

So, if you have already tried it with the watermark, know that it works twice as fast with the registered (bought version). Once this new trial version is availabe you will still be able to benefit from the watermark free trial (regarless if you downloaded the previous trial version).

    Hi clairew,
    Thanks for your explanation.
I had no doubts that the encoding should be fast in registered version, because I knew it from the freeware versions.
I will check the new trial version.
I like the program, but I do not like that the registration is valid for one year (?).

Yes, I understand about registration. but you do know the software keeps working, no watermark or nothing. It is just that (after a year) you no longer have free access to new version releases. VSO always gives an offer for a license renewel at a discount price, you never end up paying the orignal price all over again just a percentage of it.

Anyway . . . unfortunately that is the way it is.
