  1. Hi Guys,
I want to play a SACD on my PC, I've searched this site and googled it, but seem to be having no luck in finding software that can do this. Does anyone know if it can be done? Or point me in the right direction.

What I would really like to do is convert it to 5.1 so I can play it back on my DVD player.

    Thanks,
    Andy.

SACD's require an "SACD-capable" DVD drive, which have additional electronics that recognize the modulated watermark crap. AFAIK, there are NO drives for PC's that have this. I would bet that Sony won't even license drives to go in PC's. Of course, consequently, there are NO software player apps for SACD.
It is a CE (consumer electronics) format ONLY. Also, it is a Pressed format ONLY (no burning allowed).
(Those are a couple of the reasons why I vastly prefer DVD-Audio--who needs another gatekeeper?)

  3. SACD... Forgot all about that format. Funny to see how many failed formats Sony introduced.

    - SACD
    - minidisc (arguably, but it never really took off did it, and very much outdated today)
    - Betamax
    - Elcaset (pretty sure no1 know what i'm talking about so here)

At least they got it right with Blu-ray. Finally Sony!
