I am looking to buy a new 05 Corolla but I don't have a ton of money and I'm looking for the best price. I am thinking model year end closeout, but when does that start? I see some other car manufacturers have started to do that, along with the "employee pricing" incentive. After doing some online research it doesn't appear Toyota will be offering employee pricing like their American counterparts. Should I try the dealerships now, or should I wait for the model year end and better deals, and if so how much longer should I wait? Thanks

wait until the '06 models are out and the dealers are absolutly dying to get rid of the '05s

Garibaldi posted your question in his forum and
here is the reply that I left over there..............

The end of the model year is the best time to buy where I live.

If his local Toyota dealers have websites he should be watching
their inventory. As their supply of 2005 Corollas dwindles he should get
    ready to buy.

That's how I bought my new Dodge trucks, and I didn't negotiate!!!

The price they gave me was much lower than I expected to pay!

Also, the end of the month is sometimes a good time to
buy because the dealers want to move the cars out.

IMO, year end close outs might be the best time of year to buy. It all depends on inflation and the value of the Yen/Dollar and occasional price increases.

BTW, New models are on the way.

Get the end of the model year Geo version of the Corolla. I don't think the value of the Yen matters all that much, since they are all made in Freemont, CA irregardless if Toyota or GM badge on the car.

Reported $143M Upgrade Slated for Toyota/GM Plant in CA
    July 15, 2005

    1. GM, Toyota created New United Motor Manufacturing Inc (NUMMI) in Fremont, CA, in 1984

    4. NUMMI plant makes Toyota Corolla, Tacoma and GM's Pontiac Vibe

    Even more important:
It makes total sense for Toyota to install hybrids on the Corolla, which is one of its best-selling models, and assemble it in California, where most of the hybrid buyers are.
