"In a stunning move, the ESRB has advised retailers to stop selling Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This report follows public pressure over the Hot Coffee debacle. Rockstar, the publishers of the game have given retailers the option of restickering the game with an 18+ rating or exchanging it for a new version with the controversial content removed. ESRB head Patricia Vance says 'After a thorough investigation, we have concluded that sexually explicit material exists in a fully rendered, unmodified form on the final discs of all three platform versions of the game (i.e., PC CD-ROM, Xbox and PS2). However, the material was programmed by Rockstar to be inaccessible to the player and they have stated that it was never intended to be made accessible. The material can only be accessed by downloading a software patch, created by an independent third party without Rockstar's permission, which is now freely available on the internet and through console accessories. Considering the existence of the undisclosed and highly pertinent content on the final discs, compounded by the broad distribution of the third party modification, the credibility and utility of the initial ESRB rating has been seriously undermined.'"

    Yeah, more modern day bullshit.

Killing people? Stealing their cars? Hijacking?
That's cool. Teenagers can see that.

    A BOOBY! SEX!
How evil, nobody should ever see tits or sex!

Of course, I bet a survey of teens would show more of them have seen/used genitals in real life, as compared to seeing/using tanks, guns, and car theft.

But hey, what do I know?

    Humping, bad. Crime, good.

That is such a joke!!! Me and quite a few friends would have never even known about it if the media did not air it accross the country
It was on a major news program about a week ago and i bet the majority of people learned of it that way also.

or exchanging it for a new version with the controversial content removed.
However, the material was programmed by Rockstar to be inaccessible to the player and they have stated that it was never intended to be made accessible.
Funny, when it was broadcast, the company that made the game, said they did NOT have the material in the game!! that the person who made the mod actually made the extra sex scenes, i downloaded the mod, it's all of 1.2mb, installed it, and checked it out... i knew as soon as i played it those scenes were from the game and not added by anyone else!! so now they are admitting they put it there but decided not to include it in the game

Another thing from what i read on the site that host's the mod, the original person that discovered it, it was in the PS2 version.

Another thing, when they were making a big deal about it on the news show, all they kept showing was the PS2 version, which is funny because from the site that host's it and the author of the mod, the only mod availible is for the PC and the X-Box

They were almost making it seem as though any kid with a PS2 could be doing this X-rated stuff in the game.... ARE YOUR KIDS PLAYING THE GAME YOU BOUGHT THEM!?!?!?! as they are showing nothing but PS2's

Yeah they might be damaged if they see nudity. Therefore kids should not be allowed email!

Seriously people, isn't GTA a game for mainly adults? I don't know many 7 year olds allowed to play it myself.

Well, i have the mod for the PC and it's pretty much more than nudity i would say more like softporn only because they don't show actual close up penetration, but other than that, it's pretty sexual!!!

But yeah, even the normal game you can bring your GF's dildos and the sex, swearing, ect. anyways it's not rated for kids at all but alot of people still let their kids play it on PS2 and im sure other platforms... this one friend of mine was talking about it and i was like how do you know it ? and she was like her 12 year old son has it for PS2 and i was like do you know what that game is like

I wonder why they even called it GTA ?? it's more like gang banger lets take over the underworld and kill as many people as we can to get as much money as we can

The game now already has highest rating they can give. What more they want? I do not agree with many ESRB rating, what authority have they to even know what it should be? All those ratings people piss me off.

People already know how the game is. IF they thought is something good they would be mistake.

Ive seen that hot coffee scene too, and its not much different from an R-rated movie. I doubt the retailers will stop selling the game; its the stupid parents that buys that type of game for their kids.....and then the parents want to complain about it. Utter nonsense.

A lot of parents/guradians etc. have no idea what's in those games, the ratings are there for them so they can judge whether or not it's suitable for whoever they are buying it for. This game is not suitable for younger kids, how is Grandma supposed to know that?

Saw a blurb on the news last night about it, never mentioned that you have to modify it to unlock the hidden materials. They were reporting it as if it was just there.

I know a 6 year old that plays it. His parents give him what ever the hell he cries for so it is no suprise.
This plan is so bad, it must be one of ours.

That's entirely too young to be playing a game like that. Kids are very impressionable at that age and don't have the life experience yet to distiguish that what they are seeing is a game.......... I disagree with a lot of the bullshit you see on TV when they blame a game for the actions of teenagers, but for someone that young it could be.

Instead of throwing a huge bitch about the whole thing, just make retailers card whoever is buying the game. Is it so hard? Then, it is up to the parents to decide whether their children should be exposed to the game. Of course, alot of parents have very little to do with their children anyhow, and they use video games as a babysitter. If you feel the game is too much for your child, maybe you should have taken a bit more of an interest in their activities in the first place.

    Freakin' morons.

They already do that smearbrick1. That is why they are making them re-release this game with an 18+ rating, so the retailers know to enforce it here. Otherwise you'd have to pass a new law just for this one game and somehow inform all retailers and enforce it etc..etc.. ESRB doesn't have the authority for that anyway.

But I'm still confused. I've never played anything but the good old top down GTA on pc. Isn't there a version of GTA where you get healed by getting a prostitute to give you a blowjob? And isn't the point of the whole game to rip off cars and slaughter people? I'd think these games would all be rated 18+ anyway even if they didn't show actual nudity.

They are rated 17+ (Mature). What is the difference between 17 and 18. Not much if I remember correctly.

I have GTA3 and if you pick up a prostitute and go park the car........ you see her head go down (i think it's been a while since I played it) and the car starts moving and squeaking. Nothing REAL graphic. Doom 3 is far more bloody and gory than GTA3, difference I guess is it's monsters and robots.

I was at Walmart earlier today to purchase a network adapter for the PS2 and there was this parent that was trying to buy GTA: SA....and when the cashier rang it up the register said "Sale Not Allowed". When I commented about the game the woman said that she was buying it for her son.....

Obviously the cashier couldnt sell it to her so the woman said that she would try to buy it elsewhere. Apparently she mentioned that some of the other places she went to refused to sell it to her as well.

    Some parents will never learn.
