There are a number of members of this forum who spend a lot of their own time offering a great deal of helpful information to others who need help with a problem or an application. They don't have to spend the time that they do but they offer a huge amount of helpful information. To these, I would just like to say, Thank you!

  2. Here Here,

I have noticed lately, especially in posts that I contribute to, that the people who spend there precious personal time here very rarely seem to get a thanks for the help they give.
I also notice that people with these problems sometimes dont seem to read properly the advice given and seem intent on ignoring the advice which makes there problems even greater.
I like to visit this site at least daily and help out where I can, but sometimes I find myself asking 'I wonder why I bother sometimes ?' when the person you are trying to help seems to ignore or not respond to your advice in any way.

Anyways enough ranting, let's just remember to say THANKS to those people who can be bothered to help those with problems.

  5. The "instant gratification generation" has arrived.
Forums like this don't answer their questions fast enough, and if they bother to come back and read the responses, it's usually to say something like, "I don't want to (insert whatever we recommended here), I want an (insert newest one-click-wundercrap here)."

  6. I have always tried to thank anyone who has responded to a direct question. But I'd like to say thanks to all those who have enhanced my knowledge by responding to others's questions. Rectal sphincters are everywhere and never recognize themselves they have no shame. Nyah Levi

  7. And just one more thing that beef's me is when people post a question on a subject that has been brought up several times previous, and you know damn well they haven't even bothered to do a search for the subject to find the answer for themselves.
It seems to be mainly NOOB's that do this, and don't get me wrong, we were all knew to this at some stage and we're all still learning new stuff every day, but why cant they at least try to do some research first before asking ?
After all I find that you learn faster and retain that knowledge better by trying things out yourself first, then if your still struggling by all means ask the question - but a little bit of self help goes a long way !!

Oops, Sorry for ranting once again

Come on in all you NOOB's and let's spread some knowledge and happiness

I've found in my experience as an IT Officer that you would be amazed with the number of PC and network problems I've solved by simply doing a google on the error message I'm getting, word for word. My take on it is that if I'm getting the error, there's a fair chance someone else in the world has got the error at some point in time before me, and chances are that it's already been asked on different messageboards already.

  10. What bones me is when you offer support and they never respond if the suggestions worked. It is critical to know if something worked just as it is to know if it didn't.

I want to echo the thanks to all. Everything I know about video I learned from
    a) reading documentation
    b) experimenting
    c) reading (alot)
    d) going to VideoHelp and doing a search on my question
    e) exploring links from posts from knowledgable posters

I can't remember ever actually posting a question because a search always turned up an answer for me. But for all those answered questions that I didn't have to ask I say THANK YOU.

That's how I found this place many years ago!

Most of my Google searches for video problems lead to this website.

Also, searching Google first is usually faster than using the forum
search box, and does bring up the threads here.
