Hello
do people feel now that burning speeds are approacing 16x for DVD if you have a fast enough mac/bus that these speeds will effect how long the media lasts?
assuming quality rated material? from WSJ about a year ago from the national standards indicated that slower lasted longer
anu coments?

I've read the tech details, as well. If I burn two of the same disc but one of them at a much slower speed (1@8x, 1@2x) I can actually see a difference in the shading of the burned area. I've also seen this in CDs burned at different speeds (ie, 1@24x, 1@8x). Is the burn "deeper"(?) or "better"(?). Are we looking at an analog difference that makes no difference in the digital results? I suppose time will tell when I chack out these discs in 5 or ten years (assuming anything on those discs will even be of interest to anyone at that time).
