Howdy
Im new to video converting. Ive use a couple of no brainer tools with average results.
Just the other day I came across TMPGEnc plus and Im trying to get that working properly.
Im working from a guide Called "Step by step illustrated guide To encode avi to vcd with TMPGEnc plus 2.5 (and later versions) by jsprogg "
Anyway ive gone through the basic tweating of the interfaces of the program and have loaded my 700mb divX file into the program and everything that was supposed to happen during setup did.
The file size that my mpg output was 4050mb and the file played fine.
The picture quality was nice and clear and the audio was there also but the frames are all jerky- Like there is a earthquake happening
(Im trying to make a dvd) I tried increasing the bitrate to 4000 but it was no better.
Can someone give me some pointers or guess whats going on here
Thanks![]()

did you do any framerate conversion? like 25fps to 29.97fps?
-
na I didnt do any frame rate conversion. Should I have. Maybe the avi file was in the american standard. I am trying to make a pal disk.
Would that do it-If the file was in 29frames per sec and I am trying to make a 25 frame mpg??
If so How do I check what the file is and how do I make a Pal disk out of an american standard file?? -
use gspot or https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=38#38 to identify the source.

this is what it says
video information
Codec
4cc Xvid DivX
2 compatible codecs installed
runtime 01.53.49 ky 640x272
bitrate 721bs/s FPS 25.00 Qf 0.166 bits/pixel
I dont know whether that helps
That sugests its pal format hey?? -
Ok I found the Reversing field order in the advanced tab and changed it to "bottom field first"(field B)
The resulting footage was the same very clear in the stationary objects within the scenes, but the moving objects within the same scenes have these jerky movements -(left to right jerks).
So you have clean, clear scenes that look good but when the people or objects move those objects jerk but the scenery around them stays still.
It looks quite weird.
Any more suggestions thanks -
Sure sounds like the filed order is wrong. If it's ok on your computer, but plays back bad on the TV when there is sideways movement, that's the field order.

I havnt burnt anything to disk yet.
After the first 4 gb file was created I played the mpg output file on the computer. That was when I noticed the jerky picture.
After that I posted the message to this forum.
The 4 files that ive created since then have all been 3 minute samples- ie. ive stopped the encoding after 3 minutes and the resultant footage of the 4 separate samples, that I play on the Computer is also jerky.
So as you can see I havnt created a disk yet. -
Do you try TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress?
