    I hope this is the right forum and that someone can help me. I converted an analog signal to digital with a Canopus AVDC-100. I've done this many times before without trouble. This time however the AVI file in Premiere 6.5 shows it has both (the little icons for both audio and video show in the clip thumbnail) but it only has video with no sound. Even the waveform is flat. If I open the avi file in any other program it plays both the video and audio (even though the audio does seem to be offset by a few frames). What can I do to get the audio to show up in Premiere so that I can edit the clip? I've done a few tests since then and all seems fine. I need to edit this clip. Thanks!

    things u should do:

    1) try placing another clip into the timeline and observe if audio is there on premiere.

    IF YES

    2) make sure ur premiere settings for audio are available and complementary to the .wav u captured.

    3) re capture the clip ur eager to edit, of course make sure u HAVE chosen ( checked) BOTH audio and video to be captured. then place it again on the timeline.

    let us know what happens..

    good luck

    I finally got to the root of the problem. The capture was 4.5 hours in length and it appears the maximum for Premiere 6.5 appears to be somewhere around 3 hours. I copied the 60GB 4.5 hour AVI file onto a hard drive and took it to a friend who is using Premiere Pro (the maximum with this version around 24 hours according to a post I saw). I was able to edit it with this, both audio and video. So if you experience the same problem check to see how long the capture is. Thanks to those who tried to help!
