Voting will start soon. Which city do you think will have the winning bid for the 2012 Olympic Games? And, if different, which city among the nominees would you "like" to see win the bid?

I've just got a feeling that it'll be Madrid. I would like to see New York.

I doubt Russia has the money to host the olympics, so they're out. Paris and London would also be nice, but having the games in Spain just seems to fit.

With all their oil money, I'm surprised some Middle Eastern countries don't at least submit a bid. I admit I'm pretty ambivalent about the Olympics. If I were in charge of them, it would probably be less popular (grin) but I'd like to see the Olympics permanently hosted in Greece with:

    1) No "team" sports.

    2) No flag-waving or other displays of nationalism by the athletes.

    3) Simply athlete against athlete, wearing nothing that would indicate their nation of origin.

    4) Medal ceremonies where the medal is awarded to an athlete, not his/her nation, again with no flag or anthem in the background.

    5) A ban on all sportscasters who use nationalistic reportage. In short, if a guy named Joe Jones from Brisbane (QLD, Australia) won the javelin toss and a TV reporter said on the air, "Hey, Joe Jones from Brisbane just picked up the Gold Medal!" that would be OK. But if the reporter said, "Hey, the Aussies just picked up the Gold Medal!" the reporter would be escorted to the gate.
